    Get PDF
With the growth of technology and entrance into the Digital World, it has found itself surrounded by a massive quantity of data. Dealing with such huge data/information will often creates difficulties while transmission of data or storage of data. One feasible solution to overcome such difficulties is to use a data compression technique. Image compression is a method in which the storage space or processing space of image is reduced without degrading the image standard or quality. It conjointly reduces the time needed for images to be uploaded over the Internet or downloaded from Internet. JPEG is a necessary technique used for image compression. So, in order to improve the quality of the image, compression is done using different techniques. In this research work, SVD algorithm is used for compression which is giving better result for image compression without any reduction in quality. The modeling of optimized Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) implemented for JPEG Image compression in MATLAB is implemented. SVD is the core part of the JPEG image compression. In JPEG Image Compression, a quantizer follows the SVD. Such structural channel is beneficial for reducing difficulty in the whole JPEG compression/encoding. To overcome the problem of  lossy compression implemented algorithm is designed in order to enhance the performance of compression algorithm with respect to performance evaluation parameters such as, Compression ratio , Bits per pixel , Peak signal to noise ratio, Mean squared error  and Signal to noise ratio

This paper explores the traces of Ecocriticism in Indian English fiction. Ecocriticism began in United States of America during late nineteen eighties and in United Kingdom in nineteen nineties and still is an emergent movement across the globe. From the very beginning Indian novelists were inclined towards nature but true essence of ecocriticism was found after nineteen eighties. Intimate relationship between human and nature has been indicated in Indian fiction from the very beginning. Environment has become a global issue in the contemporary scenario and literature reflects this issue very seriously with the help of ecocriticism. Nature is both a preserver and a destroyer but negligence of nature and its exploitation brings destruction to mankind. Environmental problems have become global as it affects the people across the globe. Through the novels of Raja Rao, R.K. Narayan, Kamla Markandya, Ruskin Bond, Anita Desai, Kiran Desai, V.S. Naipaul and Amitav Ghosh; one finds a deep interconnectedness and interdependence of man and nature. Some novelist admires the aesthetic beauty of nature, its picturesque, scenic and sublime beauty while some are worried about the disturbance of ecological balance and desires to contribute to environmental restoration. Ruskin Bond explores the healing power of nature. Anita Desai portrays the inner consciousness of human through nature imagery. Amitav Ghosh through his novels like The Hungry Tide brings out the relationship between human, nature and animal world showing how imbalance can affect human being drastically

Rabindranath Tagore symbolizes the true spirit of Indian thought. He being a philosopher, novelist, poet, painter, dramatist as well as an educator exhibited the problems of society through his dramatic plays and acted as a social reformer. India is well known for its legends, myths, folklores and Tagore brilliantly portrays the same through his drama. Myth is “one story in a mythology-a system of hereditary stories of ancient origin which were once believed to be true by a particular cultural group, which served to explain why the world is as it is and things happen as they do, to provide a rationale for social customs and observances and to establish the sanctions for rules by which people conduct their lives. If the protagonist is a human being rather than a supernatural being, the traditional story is called legend.” (Abrams 170) whereas folklore “is a collective name applied to verbal compositions, social rituals and sayings handed down mostly by word of mouth” (Abrams 100)

Background: It is imperative to find out high risk pregnancy for providing apt care to the needy mother and fetus, so application of risk scoring system helps in pin pointing the at-risk patient and also gives a notion about the prognosis of fetal and maternal wellbeing. This study aims to evaluate the clinical application of risk scoring system in cesarean delivery for identification and management of risk pregnancies appropriately to improve perinatal and maternal morbidity and mortality. Methods: LNMC Bhopal M.P. a tertiary referral centre with approximately 2100 delivery / year and cesarean rate of 33%, serving primarily rural population. This prospective analytical study conducted from July 2017 till June 2018. Focused on the combination of the principal predictors of obstetric outcome taken from the previously published scoring system were applied on 120 cases of unplanned at risk caesarean section and summed up to identify risk-pregnancy and its predictive value for maternal and perinatal outcome. Results: It was determined by birth weight, APGAR score, birth asphyxia and NICU admission, Perinatal and maternal morbidity and mortality. Out of 120 caesarean cases 25% grouped in high risk, 58.3% low risk and 16.6%moderate group and their perinatal outcome was compared. 90% and 15% of the high risk and moderate group respectively had high risk neonates. In the high-risk group 2% had neonatal death, while no mortality in low risk cases. Maternal outcome was analysed by HDU admission 3% mothers were admitted in HDU with eclampsia and multi organ failure with one maternal mortality due to HELLP syndrome other recovered well, while one patient left against medical advice due to high expenses. Conclusions: Risk evaluation by simplified scoring system is an easy and economical way to identify high risk pregnancy to provide quick, comprehensive and quality health services to needy mother and neonate at right time, thus help in lowering the perinatal and maternal mortality and morbidity even at PHC level

Background:In developing countries like India meningitis is major cause of morbidity and mortility because of delay in proper diagnosis and consequently delay in proper treatment.  For the appropriate treatment of meningitis, differentiation of various types of meningitis is essential. The diagnosis of meningitis in a govt. hospitals is usually made by examination of CSF, Gram staining, AFB, CSF culture and associated clinical findings. All these laboratory techniques have their limitations. So we need a diagnostic test which is rapid, reliable and cost effective. In the present study we used CRP levels in CSF sample to differentiate pyogenic from non-pyogenic meningitis and to establish a cut off level for CRP.Methods: The study is a hospital based prospective study carried out in the setting of department of pathology, microbiology, casuality and various wards of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Medical College Jabalpur (M.P) India during November 2014 to October 2015. During study period we took samples (Blood and CSF) from 138 cases of suspected meningitis. Results: Value of CRP was 32.50645±2.032886 in PM cases, 1.543373±0.195181 in TBM cases and VM cases value were 2.420833±0.357502. Statistically significantly higher value was observed with pyogenic meningitis cases compared to TBM and VM cases. (p<0.001).  At 10 U/L cut off value, sensitivity and specificity of CSF- CRP was 93.5% and 94.4% respectively. Conclusions: On the basis of present study we concluded that CRP can be used as a rapid confirmatory test since elevated CRP are highly suggestive of pyogenic meningitis.
